If you're applying for admission to Duke: if you did not indicate an interest in financial aid on your admission application, please email us at finaid@duke.edu to let us know you would now like to apply.
After you’ve emailed us, please complete the application process online. Once we have received the FAFSA and the Profile electronically, we will post any additional documents we might need on the financial aid tab of the admissions portal. As soon as we have all required documentation, we will generate a financial aid offer and post it to the admissions portal. It will take us 3-5 days once we have the documents to post an award.
While we can't offer need-based aid until all required documentation has been received (including tax returns if we've requested them), we continue to process applications on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Please note that international students must check the "financial aid interest" box on their Admissions application in order to be considered for need-based aid at any point during their time at Duke.
If you're a current Duke student (who is a US citizen, permanent resident, or undocumented student), yes, you can apply after the deadline. Please visit our Renew Your Aid page for steps.
