At Duke, a Moment of Perfection for Cherry Tree Lovers
As of this week, the Cherry Allée in Duke Gardens is in full bloom, surviving the deep drop in temperatures mid-week. A bridge of Yoshino cherry blossoms reached across the Gardens’ sand-and-gravel pedestrian path entrance at the Gothic Gate, sheltering garden visitors on their walk.
Soon the cherry petals will begin to fall in a gentle spring snow. Duke Gardens experts say how long the bloom will hold depends on wind and rain. The next front is expected to bring precipitation Friday night.
